OK. I have no problems adding 5 points of extra credit to everyone's hw2. However, since the course is graded on a curve, this will have no effect on anyone's grades. But perhaps the extra points will make some people feel better.
Some of us have been teaching courses like 211 and 212 for over 15 years. Except for the handin system debugging, it seems to me that things are running unusually smoothly this semester, certainly much more smoothly than the last two semesters. We have had far fewer problems with the assignments, and students seem to be doing very well so far. If you believe that there are serious problems with the way the course is going (beyond handin), let me know.
My own assessment of the course: We're going a bit slowly, in part due to the terrible events on Sept.11. The homeworks thus far have also been a bit on the easy side. But overall things seem good, with well-prepared lecture notes for everyone, good attendance at lecture and recitation, and an unusually small number of assignment issues.
I'm definitely open to hearing more opinions, however. The entire course staff is devoted to making this course as good as possible. |
