haha... so your one of those big-word guys? well, it doesn't matter, at least you made some good points.
i don't think most people really want to get into cvs... but that is a good idea. the services we need are already there and waiting for us to use them.
i too prefer the unix based handin system. you missed the point. just because i like doesn't mean other people do, and it sort of forces people who would rather use something else to use that.
if you have an x server running, then downloading netscape is all you have to do (for a web based handin), and that's probably not a bad idea anyway. and if you are really that upset about downloading a couple megabytes of software... well... i'm sorry.
besides, no matter how the handin system works, that still doesn't make it any less annoying that not one, but two questions on quiz one had incorrect grading keys.
anyway, i do like the idea of a unix-based handin system. i don't like the current system because it barely works.
what about instead of the current system, or cvs, we use some client-serverish type thing written in java (so it runs on all platforms, and can even have an applet front-end for web based handins) that just does pretty much the same thing that the handin script SHOULD be doing?
they said they were looking for java programmers to help them with some type of submission system. if you don't have a job yet, why not ask somebody about it? seems like a good way to make money, have a little nerd fun, and possibly show off to a few people, hehe.
