This candid commenting is a good idea.
Several of the midterm problems definitely had problems. Every instructor will say that it is rare that an entire test or homework is completely bug-free (especially in more advanced courses). But in this case there were a few too many bugs. There was not enough pretesting, and we take responsibility for this.
So: We will take this into account when grading. We'll also use a curve and perhaps make other appropriate adjustments when we compute grades for the midterm.
