  I'm pretty sure the tournament is conducted in a round robin ( http://foldoc.doc.ic.ac.uk/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?round-robin or http://www.magma.ca/~acna/rrsched.htm ) fashion, in recalling the 1:30-3am running of Spring 01's own hw6 (Othello) tournament in WeH5201.

Your 2nd question looks like our interfaces problems from hw4 :) And an excellent question, too. Thanks for posting it.
