Subject: What about the slash at the end?

When detecting whether a url has been visited or not, some urls which should be the same turn out different because of the slash "/" at the end--some have it and some don't. Should we account for this by removing all slashes that fall at the end of a url? or should we just forget about it and count the urls as different even though they aren't.
