Subject: Re: extra credit

There is no extra credit on any assignment for early handin.

However, we will occassionally have extra credit problems on assignments (like this one). The extra credit points will not figure into the calculation of the final grade cutoffs. Instead, they will be factored in at the last minute, in the hopes that they will raise some students' grades up a letter grade.

I don't know how much the approximation method will be worth in extra credit. Perhaps John Yuen, who is the "czar" for this assignment, knows. But generally the extra credit points are intended to be fun and rewarding, even though the exact grading for them might not be set until the last minute.
