I have the same bad file descriptor error as well.. but I checked the directory where the file was copied. The file was copied correctly but i doubt the script did anything with the hw2.jar file afterwards, and I certainly didn't get any mail for sure, and you can't decompress the jar file yourself because you don't have access rights. ( it's reasonable since you're not supposed to have those anyway )
That's my experience so far.
